The Oscars: Berit's Top 5 Wins

Since Claire is the clever, snarky, hilarious one, I'll let her cover the nitty-gritties of the Oscars.

Here's my five favorites, in no particular order, from this past Sunday night:

Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbanna (a design house that I am totally falling in love with). It's such a beautiful color, a wonderful fit, and it's very unique -a breath of fresh air from all the sequins and feathers and flesh tones.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab. This could have gone incredibly grandma's drapes-y, but the color, fit, and design is just perfect. *Drools*

Gwyneth Paltrow in Michael Kors. It's just so... interesting to look at. Also, probably the first design of Kors' that I've ever actually liked.

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy. Cate Blanchette is so cool anyway, and her gown really fits her persona perfectly. That's 2/5 for lavender-y shaded designs.

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive. Some people didn't like it, but it's just this beautiful liquid-y fabric in such an electric color that is already big this season.

What were your favorite looks from this years' Oscars?!

Hope you're all having a wonderful week! I just saw Poet Laureate Billy Collins (read his poem ''Litany") read at my school, and he is basically amazing. I'd like to adopt him as my uncle.

  1. I didn't like Scarlett's dress from the front, but the back was beautiful.

LOVED Mila Kunis. I think it suited her so perfectly.

I'm back and forth over Gwyneth. I love how unique it is and the whole sleek look she has goin' on, but I'm not madly in love with it.

Cate Blanchett can do no wrong in my book. If anyone else had worn this on Sunday, they would've instantly reserved themselves a spot on the Worst Dressed list, but on Cate it just f-ing WORKS. Gorgeous.

I hate Anne Hathaway with the fire of a thousand suns, so I refuse to comment on this (except I love the dress, just wish I could've seen it on someone else).

One of my favorite dresses on Sunday was worn by Hillary Swank. But I thought her complete lack of jewelry from the chest up ruined it. She needed SOMETHING, even if it was simple diamond studs in her ears.

Also loved Marisa Tomei. Most people I've talked to hated it, but something about it really spoke to me.

  2. Billy Collins came to my school in November. He's the best.

  3. Ah I agree, Scarlett's dress was kind of boob-smushy in the front, but it was so glamourous and unique it got points in my book anyway.

Hillary Swank's gown was gorgeous (everything looks as such on her) but I was about to throw up sequins at that point, they've been hands down the most overused material this award's season...

  4. So in love with Scarlett's dress. That color is absolutely fabulous, and the crochet (I think?) detail is, as you said, Claire, quite refreshing amongst all that glitter and flowy stuff that everyone else seemed to be working.
