As all of us are finally diving into school, we ladies and gents are all going to be dealing with stress to a certain level. Oftentimes this takes a toll upon our skin, as we all know!
Fortunately, glorious yummy things exist in nature and within our diets that will promote healthier skin so that you can stay away from all those scary gels, cremes, and such...
-Blackberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, Plums, Pomegranates, and Artichokes are high in anti-oxidants. These anti-oxidants battle the free-radicals that wreak havok in our skin when it is exposed to excessive UV rays.
-Salmon, Canola & Flax Seed Oil, and Walnuts are high in Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids that are SO GREAT FOR YOU. They offer passageways for nutrients to pass between cell membranes and also work as a shield to block harmful substances.
*Although salmon isn't cheap or necessarily popular with everyone, flax seeds and walnuts are so easy to get ahold of and are wonderful to munch on or put into salads. Bottles of flax seed oil are also great and can be used in cooking or even blended into smoothies. Yum!
-Whole Wheat Bread, Muffins & Cereals, Turkey & Tuna all contain selinium that help promote good skin cell health and also aid in protecting skin from the sun's harmful rays.
-Low-Fat Dairy Products provide a good source of Vitamin A
-Avocados also contain B Vitamins and other oils that calm irritated skin. Eat it or slather it on your face! Recipes for avocado facemasks can be found all over the interwebs...
-Green Tea has GLORIOUS anti-inflammatory properties (that's why you see green tea masks and such) that can be great to reduce redness in acne. Drink green tea OR place wet green tea bags on your eyes or other inflamed parts of your skin and feel the relief!
-WATER is the cheapest, easiest way to take care of your skin. Water purifies and plumps up skin cells, giving you a healthy glow! Physicians recommend around 8 glasses of water per day, although it may vary from person to person.
So, when the going gets tough, chew on a handful of anti-oxidizing berries instead of your pencil! Lolz.
